Diversity in morphotypes and necrotrophic effectors (Nes) of Pyrenophora tritici-repentis strains in Latvia and Belarus

Abstract Pyrenophora tritici-repentis ( Ptr ), family Pleosporaceae, is a common wheat pathogen in all wheat-growing regions around the globe. It widely studied North America, South and Africa, while data about fungus genetic diversity Europe still insufficient. This study aimed to describe variation of morphological traits toxin production strains collected Latvia Belarus. Twenty-one isolates from Latvia, 12 Belarus were sampled 2019 for evaluation culture necrotrophic effector gene determination by PCR. All grouped into nine different morphotypes. Five these morphotypes unique one Belarus, three occurring both countries. No association between host morphotype was observed. ToxA detected 44% analysed isolates. For 52% isolates, PCR did not confirm presence any known genes . ToxB toxb found only isolate Latvia. The studies need be continued evaluate depending on species.
